We can all find it hard to slow down, rest and let go of the things that clamour for our attention. Our Kids are no exception. Just like us they’re exposed to so many things that fight for their attention, everything from social media to school work, relationships, exams, peer pressure to conform, as well as family pressure to perform in one way or another.

A regular practice of meditation can help them (and us) to:

  • Improve sleeping patterns
  • Manage thoughts and feelings
  • Build self-esteem
  • Learn to relax
  • Balance energy
  • Improve focus and concentration
  • Achieve a peaceful mind, body and life

Kids can easily enjoy the benefits of meditation when they learn how to, and it’s easier than we think. Meditation in its many guises helps us to become still, quiet, calmer and at ease by focussing the relentless activity of what has been described as ‘The Monkey Mind’; a marvellous metaphor that likens the constant generation of thoughts to chattering monkey’s leaping throw the canopy of a forest.

In this five-session course you and your child(ren) will be introduced to effective methods of meditation, including:

  • Understanding what meditation is
  • Starting and finishing Meditations
  • Creating relaxing environments
  • Stilling and increasing awareness of the body
  • Different types of meditation

This course offers parents and kids the chance to learn together. The primary focus is teaching the kids, but by attentive observation and participation parents will be equipped to re-create, sustain and embed the effective practice of meditation in their own homes. More importantly, parents and kids can learn together these critical skills for enhanced self-care. Parents can model important principles and practices that encourage their kids to:

  • Prioritise personal well-being
  • Develop resilience
  • Handle and reduce stress
  • Boost self-esteem
  • Generate positive regard for others
  • Develop healthy life balance
